Unfortunately I've seen this happen. To other people's fanfiction all the time. And it's horrible. Someone takes an older fanfic, a classic, and changes a few charcters in it and posts it in another fandom. It happened with a Bulma Vegeta fanfiction. Someone changed it to Bella and Edward and tried to pass it off as a twilight fic. Fortunately it was discovered by devoted fans. Not a good moment in fanfiction history.
