Artist's CommentsEven when I was twelve and still making fan characters... I made my own without tracing. I designed them from the ground up and I didn't need to trace over some poor animator's work. Are you against tracing? Join the club! |

You have reached the offices of the Supreme Lord Voldemort. His Exquisite Evilness is in a meeting with his Death Eaters, crafting deviously sinister plans for the demise of one Harry Potter. Please try again after the All Powerful Dark Lord has conquerd.
This isn't targeted at anyone specific.

And actually, I did that trace/recolor myself (so I wouldn't have to yoink something and get a thousand preteens screeching at me), but if you look around long enough I'm sure you'll find one somewhere.
Sprites are the same way. How many red Sonic The Hedgehogs have we all seen...

Seeing as how I'm into pixeling. XD
Ahkay. XD I was wondering why no one had like.. complained. .. seeing as how kids do like to complain about being wrong. :]
True true. I know someone who made bases out of the little images in pokemon. You know, when you play the gameboy games and the battle screen comes up? They're little sprites, your opponents. Yeah. She's made a 'base set' with those. >.O -nods-

Yeah, I was talking to a doller who said that unfortunately, tracing is pretty much considered "the norm" among base makers. I can understand using a stock photo or something else that you have permission to use, but tracing off someone else's art without their permission is just low.
I confronted someone who did that once, and she said, "I'm not asking credit for the picture, I'm asking credit for the base." But that doesn't matter because she was still re-distributing someone else's artwork
I don't understand why it doesn't set off a red flag for these people.
