Artist's Comments

Tracing presents itself as an "easy way out" for learning to draw. It's attractive to people who think that drawing looks "hard" and don't want to learn to do it properly.

In truth, it will not get you nearly as far as other methods- even copying other drawings by eyeballing will get you a better feel for drawing.

In the end, it is an inferior method. There is no quick-and-easy way to learn how to draw.

Not only is it theft, it's a bad way to learn.

Tracing is also harder (for me, at least.) Dropying (copying something exactly while not actually tracing) gives you a feel for the character in question, while tracing just has you fret over the outline.
